As part of our dynamic team, you will collaborate with general pediatricians, pediatric subspecialists, a dedicated Nurse Practitioner (NP), compassionate nurses, and a diverse group of allied health professionals. Together, we are committed to delivering exceptional family-centred care for the children in our region.
Why Choose Pediatric Medicine at WRH?
- Comprehensive Clinical Experience: Acquire experience managing a variety of acute general pediatric conditions within our 16-bed inpatient Clinical Teaching Unit, with admissions from local Emergency Departments, family birthing units, and regional transfers, totaling over 3500 inpatient days per year.
- Active Ambulatory Practice: Contribute to a busy ambulatory program that includes both general pediatric and subspecialty services, after-hours ED diversion clinics, and newborn follow-up clinics, with over 10,000 patient visits annually.
- Collaborative Multidisciplinary Team: Work alongside a supportive network of pediatric subspecialists, dedicated nurses, and allied health professionals, including child life specialists, fostering a collaborative and enriching professional environment.
- Strong Interprofessional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with colleagues in the NICU, Family Medicine, Emergency Department, and Obstetrics & Gynecology on clinical, teaching, and quality improvement activities.
- Integrated Care Pathway: Operate within a system that effectively manages complex cases, with established referral pathways to tertiary pediatric intensive care and surgical centres in London and Detroit when needed, including the option of urgent virtual critical care consultation with LHSC.
- Academic Engagement: Contribute to the education of future physicians through our affiliation with the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry, with opportunities to teach medical students and pediatric residents.
- Growth and Innovation: Be part of a program actively involved in quality improvement initiatives, patient safety advances, and the adoption of innovative practices in pediatric care.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- CTU MRP: Provide full inpatient care to children in the CTU who have a range of acute general pediatric illnesses. This includes evaluating and caring for children in our busy emergency department when indicated, assume responsibility of ED admissions, procedural skills, daily inpatient rounds, consultations with mother-baby units, receiving transfer/advice calls from partner institutions, and taking part in after-hours on-call services.
- Pediatric ambulatory clinic physician: Participate actively in our pediatric ambulatory care clinics to provide critical outpatient services, including post-CTU discharge follow-up, newborn follow-up clinics, community or local ED referrals, pre-treatment assessment of chemotherapy for cancer patients at our POGO satellite clinic, and after-hours ED diversion clinics.
- Promote an environment centered on patient safety, quality improvement, research, and innovation within the department.
- Contribute actively to the education and scholarly growth of undergraduate medical students and pediatric residents, serving as a positive role model.
What you bring to Our Team:
- Certification or eligibility for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) in Pediatrics or equivalent.
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure to practice medicine with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)
- Proficiency in the English language.

Why Windsor-Essex?
The Windsor-Essex area is ecologically rich with extensive parkland, along with a southwest location that extends warm weather activities such as golfing, gardening, and water sports. Windsor offers the unique opportunities of a larger metropolitan area and the benefits of a smaller community. Living directly across the border from Detroit, Michigan, places you on a cosmopolitan stage where arts, culture, big league sports, and entertainment are just moments away. Best of all, you can enjoy access to all of these big-city advantages while living in the relative tranquility (and low costs) of a much smaller, friendlier community.
