Job Description
Timmins and District Hospital is a 153-bed district hospital serving a local population of 41,000 and a catchment area of 110,000. Timmins is located in Northeastern Ontario, built upon a gold mining heritage. Endless outdoor adventures are never more than a stone's throw away. There is easy access to an airport, serving two major airlines, with approximately seven flights daily, to and from Toronto.
The Timmins and District Hospital is a fully accredited referral and teaching hospital and offers a full range of Medical, Surgical, Critical Care, Maternal/Child, Long Term Care and Mental Health services. Affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), there is plenty of opportunity for teaching medical students and residents.
Our Critical Care Unit is a 6-bed level 2 advanced intensive care unit that serves the community of Timmins as well as our District Partners. It is an open unit where general surgeons, anesthesia, and pediatricians have admitting privileges to the CCU. We have the capability of transvenous pacing, ventilation, and dialysis within the unit. There is a multidisciplinary team available, with Nursing, Respiratory Therapist 24/7, Social Work, Dieticians, Speech, and Physiotherapists.
Internists will cover on-call, will care for ICU patients, and provide consults for the hospital and district. Locum length is 7 days total, Monday to Monday. TADH provides excellent on-site diagnostics including CT and MRI. Locum needs are ongoing.
The program is supported through the Northern Specialist Locum Program. Includes: HOCC on-call stipend, flight, hotel, car rental expenses reimbursed as well as travel honorarium.
