Job Description

Position Description

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, is seeking a Pediatric Infectious Disease Specialist at the clinical assistant/associate professor level to join a section of eight colleagues. The position is currently supported as 1.0 FTE with 30-50% clinical activity, 20-30% infection control, 0-40% research and 0-20% education.

The successful candidate will provide clinical expertise across the full spectrum of pediatric infectious diseases in both inpatient and outpatient settings. The primary work site will be at the Alberta Children's Hospital.  Additional training and/or demonstrated clinical focus in Infection Prevention and Control is a decided asset and there is a strong preference for an academic physician with a research portfolio. Other niche interests such as infections in the immunocompromised host, infections in the premature infant, vaccine-preventable diseases or viral infections are also valued.

The Section of Pediatric Infectious Diseases works closely with colleagues in the section of Pediatric Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplantation, Pediatric Immunology and Pediatric intensive Care. We are a regional hematopoietic stem cell transplant center.

The Department of Pediatrics has over 400 clinical and academic faculty members who are part of the rapidly growing Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Refer to the Department of Pediatrics website at www.ucalgary.ca/paed for more information about the Department including its new strategic plan, its faculty, services and accomplishments.

For more information regarding this position, please contact: Dr. Otto Vanderkooi, Section Chief, Pediatric Infectious Diseases, ***@albertahealthservices.ca (🔒 Premium)
