Job Description

Reporting To: Deputy Chief Medical Officer (or designate)The Physician Project Lead of UCC Development Regina will function collaboratively with UCC Regina project team members to:
  • Assist with strategic advisement and operational decision-making for Regina UCC, including the staffing model.
  • Guide the development of the UCC in Regina from conception to design to operational readiness.
  • Co-lead advisory committees related to UCC Regina.
  • Represent and communicate project and operational issues/goals to operational and clinical leaders, clinicians, and Ministry representatives.
  • Lead, promote, and effectively articulate to frontline physicians and clinicians the vision of the Regina UCC programs/services and how the UCC will influence and improve safe, quality client care.
  • Participate in, support, and lead physician engagement initiatives.
  • Co-lead and support community engagement activities.
  • Manage general inquiries and issues arising from physicians and the broader community.
  • Develop coalitions, work effectively with internal SHA stakeholders, and draw on community expertise to help establish the multi-disciplinary clinical care model of the Regina UCC, including defining the role of family physicians (Community Physicians, Network Leads, 811 HealthLine, etc.).
  • Work collaboratively to recommend diagnostic and clinical procedures available at the Regina UCC and develop related protocols.
  • Identify and support training for all members of the multi-disciplinary care team.
  • Build a network of committed and motivated physicians and clinicians to work in the Regina UCC through engagement, collaboration, and support.
  • Create and sustain a workplace environment that fosters evidence-informed practice, compliance with regulations and accreditation standards, utilization of clinical research, and management of risk and adverse events in collaboration with corporate resources.
  • Develop and demonstrate leadership capabilities and commitment to a client-first culture of continuous learning.
  • Lead and engage with UCC Leadership, internal stakeholders, and community organizations to develop an environment of cultural competence focused on Truth and Reconciliation.
  • Co-lead quality improvement and performance measurement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as mutually agreed upon between the Project Lead and Saskatchewan Health Authority.

    Qualifications:

    Licensed medical practitioner in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.Family physician preferred, with knowledge of multiple areas of the health care system including primary health care, emergency medicine, mental health, and addictions.Canadian Certified Physician Executive (CCPE) credential would be considered an asset.Advanced education in Health Care Administration, Public Administration, and/or Leadership Studies would be considered an asset.Participation in the Canadian Medical Association’s Physician Leadership Institute would be considered an asset.Additional training and/or education in leadership or management would be considered an asset.Experience at an operational level as a medical leader working in partnership with administrative leaders to develop and lead innovative planning and programs in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.Knowledge of and experience in guiding health quality improvement processes and initiatives.Valid Class 5 driver's license.
