Job Description
Alberta Health Services, South Zone is currently recruiting for a full-time General / Family Medicine Physician in the community of Bow Island and at the Bow Island Health Centre.
As the successful candidate you will:
- Establish and maintain a full-time Family Medicine practice in the community of Bow Island; a full-time practice is defined as providing clinical activities at least (5) days, forty (40) hours per week and providing commensurate shifts in keeping with other full-time practice FTEs as assigned by the medical leader responsible for the area of clinical service.
- Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges which will include provision of inpatient admission services for their patient panel, outpatient, acute, long-term care, Alfred Egan Home, emergency room shifts including call for the ER and Hospitalist at the Bow Island Health Centre.
- Call expectation 1:5.
- Bow Island physicians also support a satellite clinic in Foremost 1 day per week.
- Establish a primary residence and reside in the community of Bow Island. Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws , the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies.
- Provide inpatient and community care within the community of Bow Island.
- Work collaboratively within the clinical department of Rural Medicine, Bow Island Health Centre. Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Rural Medicine at the Bow Island Health Centre, including (without limitation) achievement of certain performance indicators as determined by AHS, exercising its discretion reasonably.
Qualifications:
- Be eligible for licensure with the CPSA
- AHS Sponsorship is available for CPSA Assessments
- Have or be eligible for CCFP
- Have rural emergency room experience
Additional desired certifications:
· Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
· Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS)
· Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
