POSITION SUMMARY
Reports To: Department Head, Department of Surgery
Status- Full-time, Locum
Location: The Ottawa Hospital Civic Campus, 1053 Carling Avenue
The Department of Surgery at The Ottawa Hospital/ University of Ottawa is inviting applications for a Locum position in the Division of General Surgery. We seek a full-time Trauma and Acute Care General Surgeon. The successful candidate will have completed a residency program in general surgery as well as fellowship training in Trauma and/or Acute Care General Surgery. The successful candidate will participate in multiple clinical roles including: MRP on Acute Care Surgery Service, MRP on Trauma Service, Trauma Team Leader Roster, Emergency Surgery Clinic, and On Call Coverage. In addition, there is the possibility of the candidate participating in a shared elective general surgery practice. The successful candidate will be expected to engage in the education of trainees.
REQUIREMENTS
The candidate must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada as well as licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
The candidate must have coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
The successful candidate must have demonstrated outstanding knowledge, skills and ethical standards as evidenced by strong letters of reference
Terms of Employment
The income for this position is derived from a variety of sources including but not limited to clinical billings (fee-for-service) and on-call stipends.
Remuneration Details
Salary range: $350,000 - $550,000 annually. Primary source of income is fee-for-service.

The Ottawa Hospital is a 1150 bed tertiary-care hospital serving Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec at four inpatient sites (Civic, General, Heart Institute and the Rehabilitation Centre) and one ambulatory centre (Riverside). There are approximately 50,000 inpatient admission, 160,000 emergency visits and over one million outpatient visits annually. The Ottawa Hospital is the Level 1 trauma referral centre for Eastern Ontario. With a catchment of nearly 2 million people, our trauma program facilitates inpatient care for close to 1,000 patients annually.
