Job Description

Become a vital part of the dynamic and collaborative Department of Surgery at Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) and play a key role in delivering high-quality vascular care to a growing patient population. We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated full-time Vascular Surgeon to join our dedicated, supportive surgical team.

As the home of an established Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) program, WRH offers an exceptional environment where the successful candidate will perform advanced, minimally invasive endovascular interventions for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) and other complex aortic pathologies. In this role, you will be expected to actively contribute to the ongoing growth, sustainability, and clinical advancement of endovascular services within the region, utilizing state-of-the-art imaging and technology to improve patient recovery times and clinical outcomes.

Why Choose Vascular Surgery at WRH?

Our program offers a broad and engaging scope of practice, with opportunities to build and shape vascular services within a growing regional center:

-       Integrated Multidisciplinary Collaboration - Work closely with nephrology, cardiology, interventional radiology, anesthesia, and allied health teams to deliver comprehensive patient care.

-       Competitive Compensation & Benefits - Includes relocation incentives, wellness supports, and a fee-for-service compensation model.

-       Academic Opportunities - Contribute to the education of medical students and residents through our affiliation with the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry.

-       Supportive and Collegial Environment - Join a team that values collaboration, respect, and professional growth.

-       Meaningful Community Impact - Provide essential vascular care to patients across Windsor-Essex and the surrounding region.

Your Role as a Vascular Surgeon at WRH:

-      Provide a full scope of vascular surgical care, including both open and endovascular procedures

-      Sharing on-call responsibilities for the region

-      Contribute to the continued advancement and quality of the EVAR program and broader vascular services

-      Collaborating effectively and respectfully with anesthesiologists, nurses, and other allied health professionals to ensure optimal patient care.

-      Maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and quality of care in all aspects of your practice.

-      Actively contributing to a positive, professional, and collaborative work environment within the division and the hospital.

What You Bring to Our Team:

-      Certification in Vascular Surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or eligible for certification.

-      Eligibility for independent licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO); candidates utilizing CPSO pathways for U.S. Board-Certified physicians are welcome and encouraged to apply.

-      Demonstrated expertise in vascular surgery, including endovascular techniques

-      Experience in vascular access procedures, specifically arteriovenous (AV) fistulas for hemodialysis care, is highly preferred.

-      Commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care

-      Strong communication and interpersonal skills

-      Dedication to quality improvement and continuous professional development

Why Windsor Regional Hospital?

In recognition of the growing needs of the region, WRH plans for a major reform of the Windsor-Essex Hospitals System, which includes construction of a state-of-the-art acute care hospital. Why Windsor-Essex?

The Windsor-Essex area is ecologically rich with extensive parkland along with a southwest location that extends warm weather activities such as golfing, gardening, and water sports. Windsor offers the unique opportunities of a larger metropolitan area and the benefits of a smaller community. Living directly across the border from Detroit, Michigan places you on a cosmopolitan stage where arts, culture, big league sports, and entertainment are just moments away. Best of all, you can enjoy access to all these big-city advantages while living in the relative tranquility (and low costs) of a much smaller, friendlier community.
