Job Description
Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone invites applications for the role of Zone Clinical Section Chief (ZCSC), General and Community, Child Health.
This 0.15 FTE position governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports to the Zone Clinical Department Head (ZCDH), Child Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that standards of care are being met in the department and that support for research and teaching is available.
The ZCSC, General and Community, Child Health oversees essential clinical services provided by the Pediatric Community group including acute/urgent pediatric care, inpatient pediatrics, newborn care (inpatient and follow up), rural/remote pediatric outreach care, at risk and marginalized pediatric care, specialized assessments (including neurodevelopmental, behavioral and mental health concerns). The successful candidate will provide essential input on clinical roles and responsibilities of physicians within the section. They will also facilitate physician assessments and provides content knowledge expertise to the ZCDH, child health.
The position has an expected start date of approximately April 1, 2026, and an expected term of 3 years.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation. They will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.
Candidates must be registered or eligible for registration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent, eligible to work in Canada, and be eligible for or have current licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
