Title of the position: Anesthesia Clinical Associate (NOC 31100).
Job duties:
The successful candidate will provide anesthetic care in the operating room, labour and delivery, and other areas in the hospital where anesthesia services are required.
Responsibilities will include supervising and teaching students, residents, and fellows.
Participation in formal in-house programs, as well as hospital administrative duties, will be expected.
The ideal candidate will work as the most responsible physician and the clinical shift will run 5 days per week.
They will not be required to take part in the current staff call schedule.
The incumbent will have major clinical responsibilities and in addition to their own academic activities, will facilitate the research, teaching, and education by others.
Teaching may be done concurrently with clinical care and/or in organized educational programs.
Strategic needs currently include, among others, acute pain management, regional anesthesia, obstetric anesthesia, and educational leadership.
Terms of employment: Permanent and full-time.
The language of work: English.
Wage:
The financial terms of the contract include a daily (per diem) rate of $1700 for each full day for providing independent (billable) clinical services. Partial days will receive a pro-rated daily rate.
Estimated annual salary is $300,000.
The daily per diem rate is inclusive of the salary for vacation days – no additional income will be paid for vacation.
There are no incremental raises, performance pay or bonuses.

Skills requirements:
Required education:
o The successful candidate must have a medical degree, postgraduate fellowship training, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Anesthesia or the international equivalent, and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and
Surgeons of Ontario.
o The successful candidate shall be responsible for obtaining and maintaining a license to practice medicine independently in the full scope of the Anesthesiology specialty in Ontario.
o A “Restricted License for Exam Eligible Candidates” with The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) is acceptable.
o The candidate will also require a membership in The Canadian Medical Protective Association for Type of Work Code 90 (Anesthesiology).
o The candidate will be required to provide information to the credentialing office of St.Michael’s Hospital to secure hospital privileges.
Required work experience:
o The successful candidate must have proven clinical skills at a high level, evidence of demonstrated excellence in research and/or education and/or quality improvement, and a commitment to teaching students, residents, and fellows.
o The successful candidate should possess four to five years of specialty residency training.
o 1 - 2 years of fellowship/subspecialty training may also be required.
