Trillium Health Partners (THP) is the largest community-based academic health network in Ontario serving over one million residents in the communities of Mississauga, Peel Region, and West Toronto. The hospital encompasses three main sites – Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga Hospital, and Queensway Health Centre (QHC) – offering a full range of acute care hospital services, as well as a variety of community-based specialized programs.
We are seeking full-time Associate Neurosurgical Hospitalist, to be members of our Neuro/MSK Program. The preferred candidate will have independent practice license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. The successful candidate will provide Neurosurgical Hospitalist services at Mississauga Site.
Trillium Health Partners is an academic teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto. The successful candidate would be expected to participate in teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical learners. In addition, academic appointment provides the opportunity to participate in clinical and applied research. Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to an inter-professional care model are also essential.
The responsibilities of the Neurosurgical Hospitalist encompass the specialized care and management of neurosurgical patients at THP. Under the oversight of the Neurosurgeons, who will assume MRP for all patients, this role will participate in patient evaluation and diagnosis as well as the provision of post operative care, medical management, responding to neurological and medical emergencies, and collaborating with other specialists. They will also provide consultation to other providers and play a role in educating patients. They may play a role in future non-urgent next day clinics or provide support during neurosurgical on call and weekend coverage.
This position represents an opportunity to join a group of dedicated healthcare professionals in a progressive organization. This individual will work under the oversight of a Neurosurgeon within the team of Neurosurgeon as well as a multi-disciplinary team including Physician Assistants, nursing and allied health professionals. The position is open to all qualified candidates.
The successful candidates will promote and exemplify excellence in professional practice and conduct and be licensed or eligible for a license to practice in Ontario by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or its equivalent, and with certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the College of Family Physicians of Canada or its equivalent. Excellent interpersonal skills and a commitment to team based and inter-professional care are essential.
