Friendly Manor Nursing Home is a 60-bed facility located on picturesque waterfront property on the outskirts of the small village of Deseronto and we are looking for two Attending Physicians to join our team. The facility is surrounded by lush gardens and mature trees. The facility has a gazebo at the waters edge for residents to enjoy those tranquil summer days. Deseronto is the Gateway to Hastings County and the Bay of Quinte and is at the hub of the sights and attractions. Napanee is located a short drive to the East of the facility and offers quaint small-town attractions as well as a community hospital.
In the role as an Attending Physician, you will work collaboratively with the interprofessional team, including other Attending Physician(s)/ Attending NP, the Administrator, Director of Nursing, RNs, RPNs, PSWs, RD, PT, Restorative Care among others to provide medical care for residents.
RESPONSIBILITIES
In collaboration with the Medical Director, provides comprehensive primary care to residents.
Collaborates and consults with the Director of Nursing, Nurse Practitioner, nursing staff, interprofessional team and external resources regarding residents’ plan of care.
Attends the home on a weekly basis to provide clinical care to assigned residents according to an approved schedule.
Addresses resident acute and chronic care needs and provides appropriate and timely documentation.
Embrace a resident-centered palliative approach to care philosophy working collaboratively with members of the interprofessional team.
Participates in after-hour on-call medical coverage according to an approved schedule.
Conducts regular medication drug review, post admission and annual comprehensive examinations and documents on residents’ health records electronically using our EMR (Point Click Care).
Documents all interactions, assessments, orders in home’s electronic medical records system.
Participates in infection control and outbreak management where appropriate.
Commits to continuing education related to long term care, care of the elderly, palliative care and dementia care.
Actively participates as a member of the Professional Advisory Committee quarterly.
Participate and support quality improvement initiatives.
Provides input and/or attends committee meetings, where appropriate (e.g. Resident Care Conferences, Collaborative Team meetings).
Identifies situations where palliative/end of life care may benefit the resident and work collaboratively with members of the team to facilitate this.
QUALIFICATIONS
Medical practitioner licensed to practice in Ontario and a member in good standing with
the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
Experience working in long-term care, preferred.
Current knowledge of geriatrics, care of the elderly and gerontology.
Knowledge of legislation and regulations governing long-term care (Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021).
Ability to work effectively as part of an interprofessional team.
Ability to build trust and interact in a professional manner with staff, residents, families, and other community partners.
