Southlake is seeking a Cardiac Surgical Assistant to join an existing group of Assistants comprised of both physicians and Registered Nurse First Assistants (RNFA's) working collaboratively to support 5 Cardiac Surgeons 2 - 3 days per week. Responsibilities include elective and on-call surgical responsibilities as well as inpatient surgical coverage.

The successful candidate will have opportunity to work in a dynamic leading edge Regional Cardiac Centre; a facility known for providing efficient, safe, high-quality care with outstanding outcomes.
Remuneration is fee-for-service OHIP model and Ministry of Health On-Call Funding. Candidates from various training backgrounds are welcome to submit their interest.

Southlake is a Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care designated and funded Regional Cardiac Program, serving 1.5 million people and 10 hospitals in York Region and North Simcoe Muskoka. Our services are comprehensive, including primary PCI, world firsts in electrophysiology techniques, minimally invasive cardiac surgery and sutureless valves.

The cardiac medical staff now includes 5 cardiac surgeons and 20 cardiologists, with groups sub-specializing in interventional, electrophysiology, invasive and non-invasive cardiology. Southlake is a high-volume cardiac surgery centre performing approximately 1000 open cases and is expected to grow.
We also provide surgical services for cardiologists at partner hospitals in the region.

The successful candidate must hold or be eligible to hold an Independent Practice license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and be Royal College certified.
