Job Description
Halton Healthcare Services is an innovative, growing organization with three progressive community hospitals, providing quality health services to Halton and surrounding area residents in Ontario, Canada.
CHILD AND ADOLESCENT PSYCHIATRIST – General Psychiatry and Eating Disorders
Halton Healthcare is a fully accredited community hospital and an affiliated clinical education campus for McMaster University and Toronto Metropolitan University. The Mental Health and Addictions Program provides service in community settings across North Halton and in three hospital sites, including Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital, Milton District Hospital and Georgetown Hospital. Using a collaborative inter-disciplinary model of care, the Mental Health and Addictions Program offers a full continuum of services for child and adolescent patients, including Outpatient, Day Treatment, Inpatient and Emergency Mental Health Services. This also includes an outpatient program for the treatment of children and adolescents with Eating Disorders.
Halton Healthcare is seeking a full time Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to practice in a combination of our OTMH hospital and community sites. In this position, you will:
• Work alongside a multi-disciplinary team to provide evidence-based assessments, consultations, and follow-up care to child and adolescent outpatients.
• Work within our Eating Disorders program providing consultation and follow up as needed to patients with Eating Disorders.
• Provide coverage as needed across Child and Adolescent Outpatient Services, Day Treatment program and Urgent Care Clinic.
• Work collaboratively with hospital staff and physicians and participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement activities, continuing education, student training, and our on-call roster.
• Collaborate and liaise effectively with key stakeholders such as hospital medical leaders, primary care and community agencies to enhance access to evidence-based care and align mental health services with the needs of the hospital and community.
Successful candidates must possess or be eligible to apply for an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Ontario with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and be licensed by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with a Fellowship in Psychiatry and Subspecialty in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. Proven experience working within an interdisciplinary team and participating in quality improvement initiatives is requested. Demonstrated leadership skills such as communication, accountability, program planning, and the ability to create an environment that supports collaboration is also an asset.
