Job Description
Pediatric Locum Position Overview
A busy consulting pediatric practice in Oshawa, Ontario, is seeking a locum consultant pediatrician. The practice has been established for over 25 years with a large patient base.
- Duration: November 2026 to approximately April 2027.
- Future Opportunity: Possibility for job sharing or taking over the practice in the future, once locum period has been completed.
- Office Management: The office is run by Well Health.
- Format: Full-time office work Monday through Friday, primarily in-person with some virtual appointments. No evenings or weekends.
- Billing: 100% Fee for Service, handled through MD Billing.
- Compensation: locum to cover overhead, which is about 30% of billings and/or any private pay services provided (non-OHIP covered billings). Locum will thus receive about 70% of their billings.
- No hospital affiliation necessary, no on call duties. However this may be available through Lakeridge Hospital Oshawa, but the locum would need to research this themselves.
Patient Demographics and Conditions
The practice manages a high volume of developmental and behavioral pediatric patients, including those with:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Developmental Delay, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health issues
The practice also addresses general medical conditions including but not limited to asthma, allergies, constipation, eczema, and abdominal pain. There is close collaboration with Grandview Children's Centre, our Regional Children’s Centre supporting children with Developmental Disabilities.
All patients are seen by referral only. No new primary care patients are being accepted, but there is a small portion of patients who are still followed for primary care, that have been in the practice since infancy.
Office Location and Amenities
The office is situated in a commercial retail complex. There is a Pharmacy on-site.
- No lab or x-ray facilities on-site, but many are available nearby.
