As a Corridor Clinical Section Lead (CCSL), you will provide medical leadership and be the face of the Corridor Clinical Section of Senior Cardiac catheterization.  This is a significant position within Central Corridor and Alberta Health Services. You will play a key part in the implementation of strategic initiatives that guide our mission and purpose: To provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.  As well, you will be leading your physician colleagues and you are often the first point of section issues relating to physicians for operational leaders, and so your ability to build positive effective connected relationships with all staff of the section is crucial.  
Although the CCSL has a number of formal responsibilities under the bylaws, perhaps the most important part of their work is developing a culture of collaboration between department members, between the department and operational staff, and with other departments to ensure delivery of high quality and safe patient care.  

 
Key Responsibilities:

• Establish and maintain partnerships with Central Corridor medical and operational leaders, Cardiac Sciences, Department of Medicine (Cardiology), and RDRH leadership.

• Support shared decision-making and collaborative initiative design

• Lead planning and implementation of cardiac catheterization services at RDRH and the Central Corridor

• Serve as a key stakeholder and subject matter expert for cath lab development, operations, and provincial alignment Provide mentorship to local cath lab providers to support safe service delivery

• Mentor junior medical leaders to support future program expansion

• Collaborate with medical and operational leaders to ensure cath lab readiness prior to launch (e.g., go/no-go criteria)

• Establish and support patient transfer protocols (inbound and outbound)

• Support review of concerns and complaints related to the cath lab

• Assess current and future workforce needs and support recruitment and retention activities

• Attend required meetings and provide sign-off on cath lab development and staffing

• Advise on and monitor appropriate quality metrics and performance measures

• Review quality metrics regularly with operational teams

• Advise the Corridor Medical Director on physician roles and responsibilities

• Participate in and support accreditation activities

Estimated time commitment:

1 day/week (0.2 FTE/week)

18-24 month term
