The academic training program is Royal College accredited and provides medical imaging education at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
The faculty consists of 65 Radiologists, 8 Nuclear Medicine physicians and 9 Imaging Scientists providing a subspecialty imaging program to a catchment population of approximately 1.5M people. The Department provides regional diagnostic imaging and interventional programs and has strong relationships with community hospital partners.
Position Profile: Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in the Department of Medical Imaging at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. The successful candidate will take an active role in the Citywide Neuroradiology Sub-Specialty Division and must be dedicated to outstanding quality in clinical operations, demonstrate leadership, teaching and/or research abilities. The successful candidate will have completed a Diagnostic Neuroradiology Fellowship and must have an interest in academic and community radiology. The academic component of this position is predominately located at St. Joseph’s Health Care London. The community practice includes several Independent Health Facilities (IHFs) within London operated by London X-ray Associates and provides imaging services to multiple community hospitals outside of London. This hybrid practice allows regional care to be delivered using a “hub and spoke” model. Protected academic time to support research, teaching, and administrative endeavors is provided.
Neuroradiologist (Diagnostic) Division:
The Neuroradiology Division encompasses a full complement of diagnostic and interventional procedures and is comprised of 14 neuroradiologists across St. Joseph’s Health Care London and London Health Sciences Centre. The Department of Clinical Neurosciences has a disseminated model across London. The London Health Sciences Centre has specialty care in neurology that includes epilepsy, movement disorders, the regional stroke program, regional multiple sclerosis clinic, neuro-critical care, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and motor neuron diseases. Neurosurgical care includes cerebrovascular disease, intra-cranial skull-based tumours, brain tumour surgery, spinal surgery trauma, neurotology, audiology and cochlear implant programs. Pediatric neurologists and neurosurgeons have clinical expertise in a variety of areas including epilepsy, cerebral palsy, neurometabolic and neuromuscular disorders, as well as acquired brain injury.
The successful candidate is expected to provide a full range of diagnostic clinical services required of a Neuroradiologist including plain X-ray, CT and MRI expertise. The candidate will also have ability and interest in performing non-neuro radiology interpretations in the community outreach practice. The candidate may also participate in percutaneous spinal procedures such as epidural / facet injections, image-guided lumbar punctures, and myelography.
Qualifications: The successful candidate will be appointed to a full-time Clinical Academic appointment in the Department of Medical Imaging at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry. The successful candidate will hold certification in Diagnostic Radiology with the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada or international equivalent and meet the credentialing requirements of St. Joseph’s Health Care London, LHSC and London X-Ray Associates’ affiliated community hospitals. Successful completion of a Fellowship in Neuroradiology is expected. The skills to function as a Breast Imaging Radiologist in the community are considered a desirable asset for the Neuroradiologist position.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter, a team player and willing to participate in all aspects of academic diagnostic imaging. The latter includes the provision of on-call services as required by the Chair/ Department Head of the academic department and of the community practice served by London X-Ray Associates. S/he will have demonstrated strong commitment to patient care, research and teaching through previous professional activities. Consideration of applicants will include an assessment of previous performance in teaching, research, and health care leadership, as well as qualifications (including subspecialty and enhanced training), experience, and interpersonal skills.
Compensation Details: Compensation for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will be considered eligible for a partnership position in London X-Ray Associates, after completing a 12-month probation, through which clinical billings (fee for service) and Alternative Funding Plan will be administered.
