Job Description
Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) is actively seeking full-time and part-time Emergency Medicine Physicians to join our dynamic healthcare team. Operating across two main sites, our Emergency Department serves as the regional high-acuity center for over 400,000 residents across Windsor and Essex County, handling more than 100,000 patient visits annually.
Our department features specialized tertiary coverage including complex trauma, 24/7 Code STEMI PCI cardiac care, acute stroke, neurosurgery, and regional cancer services. Physicians work within a highly collaborative model supported by an interdisciplinary team of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Geriatric Emergency Management (GEM) nurses, dedicated ED Pharmacists, and Ontario Health at Home coordinators.
Why Choose Emergency Medicine at WRH?
- Competitive Alternative Funding Plan (AFP) rates with premium hourly increases for afternoons, nights, weekends, and holidays, plus shadow billing incentives.
- Eligible for relocation funding support and up to a $100,000 Return of Service incentive for full-time positions.
- Equitable distribution of shifts (days, afternoons, nights) with convenient 24/7 online schedule access.
- Teach medical students and residents from the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry with University faculty appointment eligibility.
- Opportunities for additional clinical leadership roles, such as Trauma Team Leader (TTL) and Critical Care Associate (CCA).
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Providing high-quality, efficient, and compassionate emergency medical care to diverse patient populations across both campus EDs.
- Coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams, including GEM nurses, Ontario Health at Home coordinators, ED pharmacists, and specialty consult services.
- Supervising, mentoring, and educating Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry trainees and resident physicians during clinical rotations.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives and adhering to institutional clinical standards and safety protocols.
What You Bring to Our Team:
- Completion of an accredited Emergency Medicine residency program (FRCPC-EM, CCFP-EM, or ABEM), preferred.
- Certification in Family Medicine (CCFP) requires a minimum of 5 years of dedicated clinical Emergency Medicine experience.
- Active independent licensure (or immediate eligibility) with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- Strong collaborative and communication skills with a commitment to delivering patient-centered, equitable care within a busy regional center.

Why Windsor-Essex?
The Windsor-Essex area is ecologically rich with extensive parkland along with a southwest location that extends warm weather activities such a golfing, gardening, and water sports. Windsor offers the unique opportunities of a larger metropolitan area and the benefits of a smaller community. Living directly across the border from Detroit, Michigan places you on a cosmopolitan stage where arts, culture, big league sports, and entertainment are just moments away. Best of all, you can enjoy access to all of these big-city advantages while living in the relative tranquility (and low costs) of a much smaller, friendlier community.
