Position Overview:
We are seeking two dedicated and compassionate Family Physicians with a focus on Obstetrics to join our dynamic team at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital in Bracebridge, Ontario. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the Family Health Network, affiliated with the Cottage Country Family Health Team (CCFHT).
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide comprehensive, team-based obstetrical care, including prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum services.
• Participate in a call system
• Share on-call duties
• Weekend on-call coverage is typically for 72 hours.
Compensation:
Obstetric at MAHC - HOCC + Fee for Service
Family Health Network (capitation model)
Qualifications:
Applicants for Family Medicine who also wish to obtain OBS privileges must:
1. Either have completed OBS training for a period of 4 months or more, supported by a letter of recommendation from the Director of the Program: or
2. Have OBS experience from another Hospital supported by a letter of recommendation from the Chief of Obstetrics of that Hospital;
3. Have completed the two-day Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists of Canada ALARM® course, or equivalent, before or during the period of Associate Staff privileges at the hospital to which privileges are being requested; and
4. Have participated in six deliveries in such a way as to demonstrate competence in the essential aspects of antenatal care and the management of labour and delivery in a Level 1 setting under mentorship in our Hospital. A family physician with OBS privileges will act as mentor for a family physician with Associate Staff privileges.
5. Be up to date with their neonatal resuscitation, NRP® or equivalent, certification.
6. Certified by the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) with a special interest or additional training in Obstetrics.
7. Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
8. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
