The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking a full-time family physician to join the primary health care team in Weyburn, Saskatchewan. This is a dynamic opportunity to practise comprehensive rural family medicine in a multidisciplinary and supportive environment. As a physician in Weyburn you will practise full-scope family medicine in a clinical setting as well as work collaboratively with other medical professionals to support the emergency and acute care needs of the community and surrounding areas.The SHA is dedicated to learning and is a partner in the educational needs of medical students, residents, nursing staff and allied health professionals. The successful candidate will be encouraged to become involved in the academic efforts in the Department of Family Medicine in our area.This position will remain open until filled and may be filled prior to the posted closing date

The Rural Physician Incentive Program (RPIP) which provides up to $200,000 over five years to family physicians practising, or returning to practice, in rural and remote communities in SaskatchewanThe SMA Retention Fund, which provides financial reward to physicians who practise in the province for extended periods ranging from $7,000 - $14,000 per year for full-time work.
Qualifications:
Certified or eligible to be certified with the College of Family Physicians of CanadaRegular or provisional licence with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (or eligible to be licensed)Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certificationRecommended - Advanced Trauma Life Support, Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and Neonatal Resuscitation ProgramValid driver’s licenceSuccessful SHA credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sectorCurrent Canadian Medical Protective Association coverageLegal entitlement to work in Canada

Call Schedule:
24-hour on-call coverage is required for hospital inpatients, home care and long-term care residents, as well as for critical lab values. Currently, the on-call responsibilities are shared equitably among physicians in the community.
