Full time and Locum opportunities for a busy rural ED.  We are a fully accredited healthcare facility, serving a catchment area of about 15,000 residents with 10,000 + ED visits per year. Our health campus boasts a modern hospital that features a 24-hour emergency department, acute care, a long-term care home, a Family Health Team, and senior’s apartments/assisted living units.  It is supported by multi-disciplinary team with access to 24/7 diagnostics, a Physician Assistant, Virtual Critical Care, Visiting Specialists, Nurse Navigators, Mental Health and Addictions and Community Supports. 

The Espanola Regional Hospital and Health Centre is an integrated healthcare campus located in the heart of the Lacloche Foothills, just 45 minutes west of the City of Sudbury, home of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and the largest tertiary referral center in Northern Ontario & 35 minutes from beautiful Manitoulin, the largest freshwater island in the world. Requirements: CCFP (Certification in the College of Family Physicians): Preferred:  CCFP (EM) (special competency in Emergency Medicine).  Work experience in a rural emergency department.   

Compensation: Emergency Department Alternate Funding Agreement(s) with applicable hourly rates and related billings. 12 and 24 hour shifts available

Mandatory Skills: 

Advanced Airway management including endotracheal intubation and cricothyrotomy, Intraosseous Line insertion, Thoracostomy tube insertion, Basic ocular procedures (cornea foreign body removal, slit lamp exam, intraocular pressure measurements), Laceration repair, Abscess I & D and skin foreign body removal, Dislocation/Fracture management (reductions and immobilization), Advanced cardiac management all ages (thrombolysis, defibrillation, cardioversions, pacing), Procedural sedation, Trauma stabilization, Preliminary interpretation of plain film XR, Paracentesis/Thoracentesis, Emergent Pericardiocentesis, Arthrocentesis, Chemical restraint of agitated patients, Emergency Obstetrics, ECG interpretation, Lumbar Puncture, Burn Management, Comfortable with blood product transfusion. 

Certification Requirements:  ACLS, PALS, ATLS, CPOCUS Core Curriculum certificate or equivalent 

Preferred Requirements: Advanced airway course, Fracture management course, Advanced life support in obstetrics, Critical care course
