Job Description
Full time FHO position Family group practice
We are a FHO group practice with 13 family physicians operating since 1992. We are looking for a physician to replace a physician who left the country on June 1st 2024 who had a roster of 1000 patients. We are also looking for a physician to replace a doctor who is planning to retire anytime in the next 6 months, who has a roster of 1300 patients. We are looking for physicians to take over these existing practices.
We have a dynamic team with a range of interests. Some physicians provide straight office care. Some physicians provide palliative care, some work part time in hospital. Some have interests in geriatric care, pediatric care, women’s care and obstetrics. Some teach medical students in the office. Although this is a full time practice, you define what type of practice you want to have. The expectation is to manage a practice of 1,000 patients.
We are a very collegial group. Corridor consults are encouraged. There are monthly physician meetings to review clinic operations and plan direction. We have social events for all the staff and physicians twice yearly.
We have 5 nurses, a dietician and a mental health nurse who does free psychotherapy. There is a large treatment room for minor surgical procedures, a nursing station, baby measurement rooms, a main waiting room with a kid’s area, a smaller quiet private waiting room and a large boardroom/lunchroom/kitchen for meetings or just a place to take a break.
Our interest is primarily focused on providing excellent comprehensive care and fostering good relationships and working conditions.
Generally overhead is a mixture of cost sharing and management fees to reduce the burden of HST.
We have an urgent care service where all the physicians provide group coverage for overflow or more acute situations. Most physicians work by appointment and provide a half day of urgent care per week and one evening of urgent care (5pm-8pm) once every 2-3 weeks as per the FHO guidelines. Weekend coverage (10am to 1pm) is in rotation, 1/14.
