General Cardiologist
RVH in Barrie, Ontario, is seeking a General Cardiologist to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to practice in a busy, high acuity setting with access to excellent facilities and support. This position will begin as a Locum with an opportunity to transition to Associate Staff based on mutual interest and departmental needs.
Position Overview: We are looking for a general cardiologist; however, candidates with sub-specialty training in critical care cardiology, echocardiography, or other areas are welcome to apply.
Responsibilities Include:
- CCU Coverage: Providing care for a 7-bed Coronary Care Unit (CCU) with access to inpatient echocardiography. Managing busy consult services including intubation/ventilation, IABP management, and dialysis support. Excellent support from ICU and nephrology teams.
- Urgent Cardiac Care (UCC): Covering a busy chest pain clinic (M-F) with echocardiograms daily, stress tests daily, and pacemaker clinic supervision.
- Shift Model: CCU call from Monday to Friday (24/7) with weekend handovers for Friday/Saturday/Sunday (24/7). Weekday UCC shifts run Monday to Friday.
Qualifications:
- Certification in Cardiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent).
- Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
- Demonstrated experience in managing high-acuity cardiac patients.
