ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
NL Health Services – Western Zone is seeking a salaried Care of the Elderly (COE) Physician to join the team at Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook, NL. The COE Physician is responsible for providing comprehensive geriatric assessments to older adults in acute care, outpatient clinics, assisted living and long-term care facilities, and in patients' own homes. This is primarily a consultative service where management suggestions and support are provided to the patient's primary care team. Interdisciplinary collaboration occurs with programs and services including Rehabilitation, Community Supports, Primary Care, Acute Care, and Emergency/Ambulatory Care.
Western Memorial Regional Hospital (WMRH) is a newly constructed, state-of-the-art acute care facility that opened in June 2024. The hospital serves as a 164-bed regional referral centre for Western Newfoundland, delivering a broad range of secondary and select tertiary services to a population of approximately 80,000 residents. NL Health Services is affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine of Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador, and academic interests are encouraged and supported.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Eligible for licensure as a Family Physician with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (www.cpsnl.ca)
- Must satisfy credentialing requirements of Western Zone's Discipline of Family Practice
- Completion of an Enhanced Skills Program in Care of the Elderly (COE), or equivalent experience (required)
- Satisfactory Certificate of Conduct
- Satisfactory record of work performance and attendance

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide comprehensive geriatric assessments to older adults across acute care, outpatient, assisted living, and long-term care settings
- Deliver consultative services and management recommendations to primary care teams
- Provide in-home assessments as required
- Collaborate interdisciplinarity with Rehabilitation, Community Supports, Primary Care, Acute Care, and Emergency/Ambulatory Care programs
- Support person- and family-centered care; promote patient and worker safety
- Support the academic mission of NL Health Services and Memorial University

REMUNERATION
Remuneration will be in accordance with the Memorandum of Agreement for salaried physicians in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Base Salary: CAD 225,512 – CAD 244,093 Step assignment determined by the Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines, with yearly progression thereafter.
