Locum Opportunity – Pediatrics
The Department of Pediatric and Neonatal Medicine at the Timmins and District Hospital is urgently seeking one locum Pediatrician to provide on-call coverage during the period noted above. A 1X incentive is being offered in recognition of the urgent nature of this gap.
The Timmins and District Hospital is a 215-bed district referral and teaching hospital serving a local population of 41,000 and a catchment area of 110,000 in Northeastern Ontario. The hospital provides a full range of services including Medical, Surgical, Critical Care, Maternal/Child, Long Term Care, and Mental Health.
Scope of Work
On-call coverage will include neonatal and pediatric inpatient care. The neonatal unit provides intensive care to newborns with a 5-bed capacity. The hospital manages babies with a gestational age of 34 weeks and above and is designated as a Level II A nursery. Approximately 600 deliveries occur annually. Children requiring inpatient care are supported on a 5-bed pediatric unit.
Remuneration
- $2,190.97 per day plus 42% of shadow billings.
- 1X urgent coverage incentive: $2,000 per day ($10,000 total).
- All travel expenses (airfare/mileage, car rental, accommodations, and a travel stipend) will be covered up to a maximum, as per program guidelines.
Position Requirements
Candidates must:
- Hold Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Pediatrics.
- Be licensed to practice as a Pediatrician in Ontario.
- Maintain CMPA coverage.
- Hold an independent CPSO practice license and OHIP billing number.
- Demonstrate excellent clinical skills, commitment to patient safety, and high standards of care.
