Description:

The Northern Health Region is currently seeking a 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) Internal Medicine Specialist to practice in a multidisciplinary environment in Thompson, Manitoba. The position will entail work in a both a hospital and clinic setting along with on-call responsibilities. The Northern Health Region is geographically the largest of the five Regional Health Authorities in the province of Manitoba and has a population of 72,000 people spread over 396,000 km², resulting in a population density of 0.18 persons per km². Mining, hydro-electric development, forestry, commercial fishing, trapping, transportation and tourism are the major industries in the Region.

Qualifications:

• Must be eligible for full registration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba
• Must be a member in good standing with the Canadian Medical Protective Association
• Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) candidates preferred

Compensation:

Generous remuneration with guaranteed income through alternative funding in accordance with the applicable Doctors Manitoba Agreements.

Practice Location:

This position is located at the Thompson General Hospital in Thompson, Manitoba. The City of Thompson, known as the “Hub of the North”, is located 740 kilometers north of Winnipeg, and serves as the regional trade and service centre of Northern Manitoba. With a population of approximately 15,000 residents, Thompson boasts all of the amenities of an urban centre as well as the beauty of the surrounding lakes and Boreal Forest.
