Locum & Practice description

Looking for locum(s) to cover my maternity leave between March 2026 to April 2027. There is flexibility to cover either the first half, from March 2026 to September 2026, or the full duration. Locum will be working in a FHO group with 3 other full-time physicians, in a supportive and collegial environment. Previous locums have enjoyed working with our patients and our physician group.

Practice has approximately 1500 patients of which a majority are female and Chinese-speaking. Except for some seniors, most patients can speak and understand conversational English. Patients can be requested to bring interpreters for their appointments. Age demographics are evenly spread out, from newborns to seniors. Patients are respectful and courteous.

Clinic uses PS Suite EMR, and has Ocean integration. There is flexibility to have remote access to EMR. Support staff include 3 experienced full-time admins, who will assist with patient bookings, referrals, 3rd party billings, and measurements for PHE and well-baby visits. In addition, there is a pharmacy on site. The pharmacists assist with providing patient education and advice. Doctors can also easily consult with them to enhance patient care.

Community Practice in Markham, with free on-site parking, and public transportation access by bus

On-site staff room, includes fridge, microwave, sink and separate washroom for staff only

2 well-equipped exam rooms per physician and separate office space area

Requirements

5-6 half day shifts per week spread over a minimum of 3 days and additional 5 hours of paid administrative time per week

Option to work remotely to provide virtual care (1 half day per week as patients preferentially book in office appointments) and for administration time

One evening after hours weekday shift per week, which can be open to discussion if only covering first half of locum. This is currently set on Thursdays, but may be flexible to switch with other colleagues depending on locum preference.

One 3-hr after hours Saturday shift per month

Renumeration 

$500 per half day for clinic time, and $100/hr for admin time

100% for out-of-basket, shadow billings and 3rd party billings

No overhead payments deducted from locum billings
