Job Description
The Department of Oncology at Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario, Division of Medical Oncology, is accepting applications for a full-time academic Medical Oncologist position to begin July 1, 2026. The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary cancer program and a team of Medical Oncologists, Hematologists, and Radiation Oncologists at the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario. This position is to fill an existing vacancy within the University.
The preferred applicant will have successfully completed medical oncology training or equivalent by the time of appointment and will be capable of treating patients from 2-3 different disease sites. Opportunity would be to choose one major site from Lung Cancer, GI Cancer, and treatment of one or two other sites would be as determined by patient need in the local area. All applicants are encouraged to apply regardless of previous tumour sites treated or focused on in fellowship. Clinical responsibilities will include participation in ambulatory clinics and attending duties on the inpatient service. Other clinical responsibilities will include participation in local tumour-site based teams, including multidisciplinary case conferences and site group meetings.
Academically, the candidate will participate in undergraduate medical education and postgraduate medical education in the medical oncology residency training program. A demonstrated interest in molecular oncology/translational medicine, through research, publications, or training experience, and experience with Terry Fox Marathon of Hope or other large molecular datasets would be a favourable asset and help address an area of need in the Division. Conversely, research experience and interest in epidemiology, outcomes, and mixed methods research would be considered an asset and add to a current strength of the Division. The successful candidate will have an appointment in the Department of Oncology at Queen's University and will be expected to commit 30% of their time in clinical research and teaching activities within the Department.
Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent), certification in Internal Medicine, with special competency in Medical Oncology/ Hematology (or equivalent). Additional Fellowship training beyond Royal College certification or additional post-graduate degrees would be advantageous. Candidates must be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
