Position Summary:
The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology in Southern Health-Santé Sud (SH-SS) is looking for a full-time general OBGYN term for 12 months duration (timing is flexible) based out of the Boundary Trails Health Centre in Winkler, MB. Potential for Full-Time employment is available thereafter.
Working alongside 4 other general OBGYNs in a busy clinical setting, we seek a candidate who can combine office-based practice along with a hospital based interdisciplinary practice. On-call services are required, sharing in a call group providing 1 in 6 home call, servicing Boundary Trails Health Center (BTHC) and SH-SS.
BTHC delivers approximately 1000 babies / year, supporting babies 36-week gestation and above. We have a 1 in 6 Obstetrics call group composed of OBGYNs and Family Physician Obstetricians with Caesarean capabilities. There are also a few family physicians who deliver their own low-risk patients, and 2 excellent midwifery groups servicing the area, all working within an integrated service delivery model.
BTHC Services include:
⁃ 3 bed obstetrical triage area for scheduled inductions, NSTs and pregnancy concerns 20 weeks and above
⁃ Obstetrical nursing staff trained in NRP
⁃ 7 Labour & Delivery Rooms, as well as additional rooms for antepartum patients, postpartum & postoperative recovery
⁃ 24 hour epidural capability with on call Family Physician Anesthesia Services
⁃ 24/7 operating room access for emergencies
⁃ On-call Pediatric Services
⁃ Hospitalist Services
⁃ Special Care Unit support
⁃ Diagnostic services on site, including basic Fetal Assessments during daytime hours
⁃ General Gynecology OR slates would be 1-2/ month split equitably with access to scramble time as needed.
⁃ Affiliation with the University of Manitoba, resident physicians participate in patient care & provide ample teaching opportunities
Qualifications:
• The successful candidate must hold a Doctor of Medicine with postgraduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada
• Must be eligible for registration with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba
• Must be a member of CMPA or provide proof of equivalent malpractice insurance
• Must have current NRP. Fetal Health Surveillance not mandatory but encouraged.
• Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job
• Demonstrated ability to respect confidentiality including paper, electronic formats and other mediums
• Good work and attendance record
Conditions of Employment:
• Completes and maintains a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check, as appropriate.
• Requires a valid Class 5 driver’s license, an all-purpose insured vehicle and liability insurance of at least $1,000,000.00.
