Job Description
The Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and Division of Paediatric Surgery at the Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry at Western University invite applications for a full-time Otolaryngologist specializing in Pediatric Otolaryngology (full scope including clinic, surgery, call) and General Otolaryngology (one day per week outpatient adult clinic). The successful candidate must have an MD or equivalent and have specialty certification in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck surgery from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent), be licensed or eligible for license in the Province of Ontario, and have completed training in or developed a focus of expertise that would be complimentary to the department’s academic environment. Specifically:
1. Fellowship training in pediatric otolaryngology.
2. A strong interest in teaching and collaboration within the department to expand and enhance clinical teaching.
3. A keen interest in academic medicine, including research, and teaching at the undergraduate and post-graduate levels.
4. The ability to collaborate effectively with all other members of the health care team and department staff.
5. Advanced training in a discipline complementary to the academic mission of the department, having shown success in research publications in the area of pediatric otolaryngology or a relevant research area.
This is a hospital/university position with an academic rank, remuneration, and contractual arrangements commensurate with experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will be a Clinician Teacher or Clinician Researcher and hold a Full-Time Limited Term Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, or a Continuing Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor, depending upon experience and qualifications at the time of appointment.

The London Health Sciences Centre Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Program serves a catchment area of more than 1.5 million residents in Southwestern Ontario. The regional service also provides tertiary and quaternary level care to patients from other regions of the Province and plays an essential role in the support of several other regional programs. The Department Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery is heavily involved in undergraduate, post-graduate and continuing medical education programs at a high level. Children's Hospital is the only tertiary care center between Toronto and Winnipeg, serving a population of approximately 500,000 children. Children's Hospital has 64 general paediatric beds, 12 Paediatric Critical Care beds, 46 neonatal beds and a very active emergency department.
The applicant would be joining four other fellowship-trained pediatric otolaryngologists. The successful applicant will be part of the Pediatric Otolaryngology on-call grid.

Successful applicants will be integrated into the teaching, research, and clinical care activities of the Department of Otolaryngology.
Western’s Recruitment and Retention Office is available to assist in the transition of a successful applicant and their families.
Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience and will be composed primarily of the following sources: fee for service, alternate funding plan, hospital on-call coverage, and academic support. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to supplement their pediatric practice by providing one day per week of outpatient adult general otolaryngology services on a temporary basis, until a full pediatric alternative payment plan is secured.
