Job Description

Our hospital is looking to recruit a General Otolaryngologist to join two other full time otolaryngologists.

If you want to establish a community practice rich in all aspects of your field while enjoying your home/family life (cutting out the commute and high cost of living!), this job is for you!

Job Summary

NBRHC is a community hospital with a large regional referral base.  Currently there are two full-time otolaryngologists.  The Department of Surgery also includes General Surgery, Urology, Orthopedics, Ob/Gyn, and Ophthalmology.  We work alongside a skilled group of FRCPC anesthesiologists.  Our Operating Room is cutting edge with the Medtronic Stealth Image Guidance System and the Medtronic NIM Nerve Monitoring System (with recurrent nerve monitoring).  We also have a full complement of bronchoscopes and rhino-laryngoscopes in-hospital.  OtoHNS has a generous resource allocation at NBRHC.  The recruit’s operating room time would be 3 blocks per month, and the ambulatory procedure time would be 2 blocks per month.  These blocks would be available as a starting base, with more blocks available as dictated by operative/procedural volume.  The call requirement would be 1 in 3 shared equally between all three otolaryngologists.   The organization is an affiliated academic teaching centre with NOSM University and our service is involved in teaching medical students and Family Medicine residents.

Qualifications

Applicants are required to be certified in Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and independently licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.

Proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (2 doses).

Organization & Community Info

North Bay Regional Health Centre is a 433 bed health care organization with three primary roles: providing acute care services to North Bay and its surrounding communities, functioning as the district referral center providing specialist services for smaller communities in the area, and it is the specialized mental health service provider serving all of northeast Ontario. For further information please view https://nbrhc.on.ca/join-our-team/careers/physician-positions/

North Bay is 3.5 hours’ drive north of Toronto, just north of Muskoka, and 3.5 hours west of Ottawa. North Bay is a city of 54,000 people and is situated on the banks of two large lakes and boasts beautiful scenery. Whatever your interests are, you will have access to numerous activities and amenities within minutes from your home – reclaim your work-life balance! Cut out the commute, cost of living, & constant committees of urban medicine while retaining the rewards of working alongside medical students and residents!  To view beautiful North Bay and our lifestyle please see http://vimeo.com/84039502

Remuneration

This position will be remunerated through a combination of fee-for-service billings, a lucrative Northern Specialist Alternative Payment Plan, & Hospital On-Call stipends. In addition, NBRHC has a competitive Incentive Package which includes a $25,000 recruitment stipend, $25,000 practice start up grant, assistance with relocation expenses, and $94,000 via the Northern Rural Recruitment & Retention Initiative.
