Job Description

North York General Hospital (NYGH) is a fully accredited community academic hospital affiliated with the University of Toronto and is one of Canada’s leading community hospitals. Operating over 600 acute and long-term care beds on three sites, NYGH serves over 400,000 residents in North Central Toronto. We offer our culturally diverse community a broad continuum of integrated primary, secondary and selected tertiary services.

NYGH is a leading community teaching hospital that is home to a Regional Level IIC Maternal, Newborn and Paediatric Program. Our inter-professional team offers an extensive service delivery model that includes comprehensive inpatient and ambulatory services. Our Paediatric program offers a 12 bed inpatient ward, 2 bed short stay unit and a 20 bed Level 2C NICU. In addition, we offer a variety of outpatient neonatal, general paediatric and sub-specialty clinics.

As an integral member of the Maternal, Newborn and Paediatric Program, we are recruiting a Paediatric Endocrinologist to join our team. The individual would provide inpatient and outpatient general endocrinology consultations as well as work in our interprofessional Paediatric Diabetes Clinic. We would also expect the individual to collaborate with our current NYGH Paediatric Endocrinologist, and our tertiary and community Paediatric endocrinology partners locally and regionally.

NYGH is a community academic teaching site affiliated with the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will be appointed as faculty and will be responsible for teaching Paediatric endocrinology and diabetes topics to our undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees. The individual will also supervise trainees in the outpatient setting (through the Diabetes Clinic) and is encouraged to be involved in research and/or quality improvement initiatives in the department.

Qualifications:

·         Licensed to Practice independently in Ontario

·         Fellowship training in Paediatric Endocrinology from a Royal College-accredited program or an equivalent program in an approved jurisdiction

·         Extra training/course work in quality improvement and ability to contribute to general paediatric clinical work would be an asset

·         Eligible for academic appointment with the University of Toronto

·         Willingness to advance the organization’s Mission and Vision through academic excellence

·         Ability to support the hospital’s strategic plan and its commitment to education and research

·         Strong people skills, with the ability to give feedback

·         Highly effective interpersonal and communication (spoken and written) skills, combined with excellent organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to achieve outcomes

·         Initial appointment to clinical associate or active staff commensurate with clinical experience
