Job Description
Walk into an established outpatient practice with patients ready to be scheduled.
The Headache, Migraine & Concussion Centre (HMCC) is a growing, community-based clinic that has provided specialized, non-narcotic headache and pain care in Durham Region since 2013.
HMCC has an established referral network, a significant patient waitlist and the clinical and administrative infrastructure required for a physician to begin seeing patients without building a practice from the ground up.
We are seeking an anesthesiologist, neurologist, physiatrist or another physician with appropriate training and experience in pain or headache medicine to join our team for one to three days per week.
Why This Role Is Different
This is a flexible, ongoing practice opportunity designed to complement a physician’s existing hospital, academic or community-practice commitments.
- Begin with one clinic day per week
- Scale to two or three days per week, if desired
- Immediate access to patients requiring consultation and treatment
- No requirement to build or market a new practice
- No primary-care roster or patient-panel responsibility
- No evening, weekend, on-call or hospital coverage
- No operating-room, general anesthesia, sedation or inpatient responsibilities
- Dedicated administrative, referral and billing support
- Flexible weekday scheduling
- Clinic rooms, equipment and supplies provided
Immediate Patient Demand
HMCC has an established community referral network and a significant backlog of patients requiring consultation and treatment.
The successful physician will have:
- Immediate access to booked consultations
- Strong ongoing referral demand
- Administrative support for referral intake and patient scheduling
- No traditional practice-development or patient-acquisition ramp
- The ability to increase clinical days as their availability and interest grow
Earning Potential
- Estimated annual fee-for-service professional income: $450,000-$850,000
- Competitive clinic-overhead arrangement
- Strong patient demand supporting consistent daily billings
- Immediate access to consultations and follow-up patients
- Scheduling, billing, staffing, rooms, equipment and supplies provided
Practice Environment
HMCC offers an established, professionally supported clinic environment with:
- Experienced administrative and clinical staff
- Streamlined referral, scheduling and billing workflows
- Established relationships with community referral sources
- A multidisciplinary network of healthcare providers
- Fully equipped clinical space
- A patient-centred, collaborative culture
- A focused non-narcotic approach to headache and pain care
The physician can concentrate on clinical care while HMCC manages the administrative infrastructure required to support the practice.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- Training and experience in anesthesiology, pain medicine, headache medicine, neurology, physiatry or another relevant field
- Current CPSO registration, or a clear and realistic pathway to Ontario registration
- Documented competence and an authorized scope appropriate to the consultations and procedures performed
- Good standing with the applicable medical regulator
- Appropriate professional liability protection
- Strong clinical, communication and documentation skills
- A commitment to compassionate, collaborative and evidence-informed care
Hospital privileges are not required for this position.
CPSO Registration and Supervision
Candidates who are otherwise eligible for a CPSO certificate requiring supervision may be considered. Any supervisory arrangement would be subject to CPSO approval, the candidate’s authorized scope of practice and the availability of a suitably qualified supervisor.
HMCC does not provide change-of-scope or hospital-based procedural training. Candidates must already possess, or be eligible to obtain, the training and authorized scope required for the services they will provide.
Schedule and Start Date
- One to three weekday clinic days per week
- Flexible scheduling
- No evening, weekend or on-call requirements
- Start date as soon as licensing, credentialing and onboarding requirements are completed
