Hospital- Based General Pediatrician

Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine

PIVOT / Rapid Access Clinic / Inpatient

The Division of Pediatric Hospital Medicine at BCCH has a successful history of family-centered care, leadership in education, and a growing quality improvement program. We provide individualized career development through personalized mentoring and opportunities for additional skill development in quality improvement, education, leadership and research.


BC Children’s Hospital & the University of British Columbia, Department of Pediatrics are seeking a Clinician Specialist to provide clinical and academic services.


Responsibilities encompass patient care on the following clinical services: Pediatric IV Outpatient Therapy (PIVOT) Pediatrician - provide medical care and oversight for patient’s receiving IV antibiotics at home. Rapid access clinic – provide follow up of patients seen in ED and inpatient. In addition, the pediatrician services will in inpatient services. You will be engaged in teaching both with and without patient care.


In addition to a demonstration of a strong commitment to academic hospital-based General Pediatrics, applicants will also have a level of education, training, and experience equivalent to Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada specialty and/or sub-specialty credentials and eligibility for registration in the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia.


You will have exemplary clinical skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively with families in the care of children along with a strong commitment to best practice and advancing knowledge in the field of General Pediatrics.


The successful candidate will be appointed as Clinical Faculty at the University of British Columbia, Faculty of Medicine. Academic rank and clinical salary will be based on qualifications and experience.


Priority will be given to those who have demonstrated a commitment to hospital based practice and skills outlined above. Opportunities will be available to develop additional skills in quality improvement, complex care, procedural sedation, education and research. PALS or the equivalent certification is an expectation.
