Physician Lead Cancer Genetics Program
We are inviting applications for a 0.2 FTE Physician Lead to provide medical oversight of the cancer genetics program at Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN) Cancer Centre – formerly the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre.
About WRHN Cancer Centre Genetics Program:
The Waterloo Wellington Regional Cancer Program (WWRCP) oversees the delivery and quality of cancer services for the residents of Waterloo Region, Wellington County, and the southern portion of Grey County. It is one of 14 regional cancer programs overseen by Ontario Health (Cancer Care Ontario) to ensure cancer care is delivered according to province-wide quality standards. The program includes services provided at WRHN Cancer Centre, a top rated cancer centre in Ontario, in partnership with several community hospitals and organizations. For more information about the WWRCP visit www.grhosp.on.ca/cancerwaterloowellington.
WRHN Cancer Centre is home to the Waterloo Wellington Regional Cancer Program. The cancer genetics program at WRHN Cancer Centre currently has TWO (2) experienced Genetics Counsellors (GCs), ONE (1) experienced Genetics Assistant, and ONE (1) full time clerical staff person, who provide care to ~700 new genetics patients per year using an existing set of policies, practices and medical directives.

The Physician Lead is expected to be available during the program’s regular hours (8AM to 4PM) for one day per week or two half days per week for the following duties (but not limited to):
Provide clinical leadership for keeping policies and practices followed by the GCs and GA up to date
Work with oncologists and WRHN leadership to deliver standard of care hereditary cancer care to patients seen at WRHN

Reviewing and signing off on all genetic testing results and consult notes facilitated by GCs
Providing input on complex cases brought forward by the GCs
Direct consultation of complex patients already assessed by GCs (in person and/or virtually)
Compensation:
The Physician lead will retain 100% of all OHIP billings. In addition WRHN Cancer Centre will provide a monthly stipend for 2 year contract commensurate with experience and at a competitive rate.
