Job Description
Description:
In the Calgary Corridor, Psychiatry Primary Care (PPC) physicians provide medical co-management for patients admitted to Addictions and Mental Health (Psychiatry) inpatient services. Optimization of the medical care for these increasingly complex and comorbid patients has been identified as a top priority for the Calgary Corridor. Working closely with members of the psychiatry team, including psychiatrists, nursing and allied health, the PPC physicians are responsible for admission medical assessments, issue identification, development and implementation of a treatment plan, ongoing evaluation, and support with discharge planning. We pride ourselves in providing excellent patient-centered care for this vulnerable and under-serviced population.
We are currently recruiting locum PPC positions with no set FTE at the Foothills Medical Centre.
Currently, the clinical responsibilities for this position entail performing admission history and physical exams, as well as managing subacute and chronic medical problems for patients admitted to the inpatient Psychiatric service, including those awaiting beds in the emergency department. As needed, responsibilities also include involvement in acute medical concerns and clinical deterioration. Clear documentation, communication and collaboration is required. Hours involved are weekday in-house coverage and weekend on-call coverage consistent with the PPC Scope of Practice. Renumeration is fee for service.
Time Requirement:
No set Clinical FTE is anticipated. This will include weekday and occasional weekend shifts.
We’re passionate about what we do. Our team of skilled and dedicated health care professionals, support staff, and physicians promote wellness and provide health care every day, across the Calgary Corridor. We are an equal opportunity employer. AHS values the diversity of the people and communities we serve and is committed to attracting, engaging, and developing a diverse and inclusive workforce.
