Job Description

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is seeking a strategic, people- and outcome-focused systems thinker in the position of Corridor Medical Lead – Southeast Corridor – an exciting senior medical leadership role within the Hospital-Based Leadership model. Focused on providing oversight, governance, and strategic direction for medical leadership across multiple acute care sites within the Southeast corridor, you will ensure alignment with provincial medical bylaws, support clinical excellence, and maintain professional standards while enabling site-level decision making, autonomy, and accountability within AHS.

Providing strategic consultation to operational leaders on clinical matters, you will coordinate communication with other Corridor Medical Leads and between sites within the corridor to ensure seamless integration of clinical services and serve as the medical voice of the corridor for items that span corridors and/or agencies. To succeed, you will need to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, the Government of Alberta, other corridors, provincial services, and corporate services.

This 0.8-1.0 FTE position can be located anywhere within the Southeast corridor.

South-East Corridor lies along the Saskatchewan and US borders. Medicine Hat Regional Health Centre acts as a regional hub with 213 beds and the Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre. This is complemented by local healthcare centres, hospitals, primary care, and long-term care throughout the corridor. Southeast Corridor serves over 80,000 residents which includes 38 communities ranging from midsize cities to small towns and village.

Description:

The CML facilitates corridor-wide quality improvement initiatives and ensures consistent application of clinical standards across sites. You will support and coordinate corridor-level patient flow, including directing inter-site admissions and emergency management coordination across sites.

The CML establishes key partnerships and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups.  Collaborating with AHS and Acute Care Alberta, you will monitor site performance against key performance indicators, specifically focusing on clinical care metrics to ensure optimal service delivery and patient outcomes and support development and implementation of site-level report cards and performance reviews with a focus on clinical care.  You will forge strong relationships with key partners, such the Government of Alberta, other corridors, and provincial and corporate services.
