Job Description
The Minor Surgey Center Vaughan is a practise that performs excisions of skin cancers, lumps and bumps (lipomas/cysts/skin tags/etc) and minor hand surgeries such as carpal tunnel releases and trigger fingers. We have an oustanding staff of over 20 plastic surgeons and 10 nurses. We have 6 functioning minor procedure rooms where the surgeries are performed under local anesthesia.
We are looking for one or two part time family doctors to help as surgical assistants on Saturdays. This is a fee for service structure where the assistant will directly bill OHIP and the surgical assistant will keep 100% of billings. Saturday premium applies to surgical assist codes. Typical days are 9am to 3pm or 10am to 4pm with a 30 minute lunch break.
Expected duties are prepping and drapping, holding retractors, cutting sutures, applying dressings and helping the nurse with room turnover. It is a positive if the assistant can suture, however we are always happy to teach.
