4-step primary health care compensation grid for 220 (1.0 FTE) clinic days per year (excluding weekends and statutory holidays); Rural Physician Incentive Program (RPIP) up to $200,000 over five years; SMA Retention Fund $3,500–$7,000.

Salary

Fee-for-Service; Expected annual income: $350,000–$450,000 (potential to exceed $600,000 with additional call); variable depending on call volume and clinical commitments.

Fee-for-Service; eligible for Rural CME (RCME) funds: $600 for up to 2 years in Trail, $3,600 during years 3–4, and $6,600 after 4 years, plus Doctors of BC CME funds; rural incentives available (rates confirmed at time of offer).

BC Longitudinal Family Physician (LFP) model in clinic; LFP + 20.02% Rural Retention; Emergency on-call APP + 20.02% Rural Retention; possible limited travel and accommodation support; eligible for Rural Subsidiary Agreement retention premium.

The salary range is based on the Fee-For-Service (FFS) earnings, as per the Schedule of Medical Benefits (SOMB) information published by Alberta Health Salary range of $250,000-$400,000 per annum depending on the service volume and patient load. Compensation is based on a Fee-for-Service (FFS) model in accordance with the Alberta Health Schedule of Medical Benefits (SOMB). Based on available Alberta Health and AHCIP Statistical Supplement data, as well as provincial physician payment ranges: Estimated FFS Earnings Range: $130,000 - $730,000+ annually (gross clinical billings) Typical Average Gross Earnings (Cardiology, Alberta): Approximately $400,000 - $680,000 annually, depending on workload, subspecialty, and billings volume Note: Under the FFS model, physicians bill Alberta Health per service as outlined in the SOMB; therefore, total earnings vary significantly based on clinical activity, case mix, and practice structure Important Compensation Note Overhead structure (e.g., clinic expenses, staffing, billing costs, etc.) will be discussed with candidates during the interview process. All earnings listed represent gross billings prior to overhead and taxes.
