Job Description
The Department of Medicine at Queen's University invites applications for a Care of the Elderly Family Physician appointment in the Division of Geriatric Medicine. The incumbent will assist the Division in fulfilling its academic and clinical missions within the Department of Medicine and University.
The Division of Geriatric Medicine at Queen’s University is a unique combination of Geriatricians and Care of the Elderly physicians who work closely and collaboratively together in a supportive and rewarding team model.
The position will involve a mix of both ambulatory roles (Senior’s Day Rehabilitation program and general geriatrics clinics at Providence Care Hospital (PCH)) and inpatient clinical roles (subacute care Geriatric rehabilitation inpatient unit at PCH). On-call responsibilities are shared amongst the division (approx. 1:8) and cover the PCH Geriatric rehab inpatient unit only. There are ample opportunities to work with residents and clinical clerks and teaching is an important component of the role.
The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate exemplary clinical service and strong potential for teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. They will also exhibit a strong potential for innovative scholarly contributions (in research, quality improvement, and/or education). The successful candidate must also demonstrate strong leadership skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a collaborative environment. The incumbents will be expected to make contributions through service to the Department, the Faculty, the University, and/or the broader community.
Qualified applicants will hold an MD degree (or equivalent). Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and hold certification by the College of Family Physicians. Preference will be given to those who have completed enhanced skill training in Care of the Elderly.
Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
