Health Sciences North/Horizon Santé-Nord (HSN) is recruiting health care professionals who have a keen interest in affecting change within its dynamic health care system. As the tertiary care referral centre for the entire Northeastern Ontario region, HSN serves a catchment population of over 600,000 residents.

The Department of Medicine is currently recruiting  4 Respirologists and/or Sleep Medicine Specialists to join 2 existing Respirologists. This unique practice opportunity allows for flexibility to focus on or combine general respirology and sleep medicine to provide pulmonary care and consultative services to the City of Greater Sudbury and Northeastern Ontario. Our team operates on a fee-for-service model.

A complete Pulmonary Function Lab performs all basic testing as well as bronchoprovocation and Stage 1 cardiopulmonary exercise testing. The Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) readings are shared evenly between the Respirology team. HSN offers a clinically focused position with the opportunity to participate in an interventional program. Bronchoscopy facilities are provided in the endoscopy suite and thoracic surgical services are active at HSN. HSN’s Pulmonary Rehabilitation Clinic and the Community Asthma Clinic are active outpatient services.

The Sleep Disorders Lab operates 6 beds and testing includes diagnostic studies, CPAP/BiLevel Titrations, non-invasive ventilation assessments, maintenance of wakefulness testing  and multiple sleep latency testing.  Initial supervision of your sleep practice as required by CPSO can be accommodated for new graduates. There is a vacant leadership role as the Medical Director of the Sleep Disorders Lab should a candidate be interested in program development and quality assurance.

There is also an opportunity for involvement in inpatient internal medicine and research opportunities are available with HSN’s research institute, HSNRI. Successful candidate(s) will be expected to obtain academic appointment from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) and participate in  teaching.  

Candidates must be eligible for licensure in Ontario and have obtained or be eligible to obtain speciality qualifications from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
