Job Description

We invite applications for the full-time position of Academic Psychiatrist with appropriate experience to work in the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences (DPBN), McMaster University and the Adult Psychiatry Consult Liaison team based at St Joseph’s Hospital Charlton Site. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

 

We are recruiting for an academic psychiatrist who has interest and expertise in caring for persons who present with neuropsychiatric presentations and, particularly, functional neuropsychiatric presentations. This position has a strong academic component and will require evidence of previous scholarly work in this field.

 

The successful candidate will work alongside a multidisciplinary consultation liaison team which includes physicians, nurses and a neuropsychologist. The position will be primarily outpatient focused with an opportunity for collaborative clinical work with the neurology service.

 

The successful candidate will hold or be eligible to apply for a valid licence with the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Ontario and be a trained psychiatrist with FRCPC or equivalent.

 

The appointee of this position will hold a full-time academic appointment in Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at an academic rank appropriate to their credentials and experience. The position offers excellent benefits, and remuneration is commensurate with academic rank and position duties and responsibilities.

The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University is a multidisciplinary Department consisting of MD and non-MD faculty working within a unique regional network of psychiatric services that integrates two general hospitals, a network of community services, a 24-hour regional psychiatric emergency service, an innovative shared-care mental health program, and outreach services for children, adults and the elderly. Pay Transparency Statement

Compensation for Clinical Faculty is derived from multiple sources and varies based on clinical activity, specialty, and practice arrangements. Compensation may include a combination of university-based salary, stipends, hospital or partner organization funding, and earnings through clinical practice plans.
