Position Summary:

In partnership with other members of the medical staff, the hospitalist will provide care for designated hospital in-patients. They may be most responsible physician (MRP) for these patients or involved in concurrent care along with one of the specialists. The hospitalists will work with the multidisciplinary team to provide care and services at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital (OSMH) in accordance with accepted and evolving standards of clinical practice. They will utilize excellent diagnostic and therapeutic skills for the assessment and management of a wide range of medical conditions.

OSMH is 1.5 hours north of Toronto, nestled along the shores of Lake Simcoe & Lake Couchiching. 5 picturesque waterfront parks, 60 Alpine ski runs and 82Km’s of crosscountry ski/cycling trails!

Remuneration: 

- Fee for Service billings

- HOCC equivalent ($373-466 based on # of patients) 

- Overnight & weekend premiums ($490-$700)

Details: 

- Mentorship support available

- 1 week blocks with a frequency of the physicians choosing

- Overnight call 11pm-7am, requirement for 1-2 nights of call per week of duty

- EMR- Cerner (Powerchart)

- Full Line = 18-22 patients, Half Line = 8-12 patients

- 2 NP’s with MRP status, Psych Hospitalist model

- All admissions completed by Emergency Physicians

Specialist Support: 

General surgery, closed ICU with 10 beds, schedule 1 facility for psychiatry (25 in patient mental health unit with 4 extra care beds),

Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Respirology, Gastro, Geriatrics, Cardiac Care Clinic, Level 2c obstetrical center with level 2 nursery. 

Investigation Modalities: 

Lab, MRI, ultrasound, xray, CT, nuclear and IR 

Qualifications

- College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) unrestricted license that allows the physician to fulfil the requirements of this position.

- ACLS Training
