As a trusted advisor and catalyst for change, the ACMIO champions the strategic adoption and optimization of Digital Health initiatives, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation to support high-quality, patient-centered, and evidence-informed care. The ACMIO also plays a critical role in aligning clinical informatics initiatives with the broader organizational goals and the needs of RA.

This role provides physician informatics leadership for addiction and mental health, recovery-oriented services, and associated care models (including corrections) across Recovery Alberta.

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

•    Actively engage with Connect Care leadership and corridor stakeholders to promote alignment with standards, collaboration and physician engagement during system design, build, and optimization.

Clinical Information Systems Leadership:
•    Advocate for and support the adoption and optimization of Connect Care and other Digital Health platforms used in Recovery Alberta.
•    Collaborate with clinical operations and corridor leadership to advance clinical innovations that are enabled by clinical information systems (CIS) to enhance patient care.

Strategic Guidance and Decision-Making:
•    Influence the direction of clinical informatics initiatives by providing strategic insights on clinical transformation, CIS development, and operational priorities.
•    Represent clinical and operational needs in CIS and informatics-related discussions, ensuring alignment with corridor and provincial goals, as well as Health Shared Services clinical systems design and implementation standards.

Change Management and Education:
•    Champion clinical transformation by promoting awareness, education, and adoption of CIS tools and workflows across the province.
•    Oversee the development and execution of change management strategies, ensuring that clinicians are supported through system transitions and enhancements.

Committee Representation and Governance:
•    Actively participate in and/or chair senior committees in the Health Shared Services (HSS) clinical informatics governance structure, and/or as applicable, at the corridor, provincial, and external levels, ensuring alignment of clinical informatics work with organizational and Health Shared Services priorities.
•    Collaborate with governance groups to validate and prioritize CIS enhancements and innovation selection processes when applicable.

Innovation and Quality Improvement:
•    Drive innovation in clinical care delivery by identifying opportunities to leverage CIS and informatics to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care.
•    Support the development and dissemination of best practices, evidence-based methodologies, and knowledge translation in clinical informatics.
