Blind River, ON – Emergency Department: Practice medicine in a friendly town full of outdoor recreational opportunities. Blind River is a beautiful community located on the North Shores of Lake Huron, with a summer population of approximately 6000. The Blind River Hospital is seeking locum physicians to join our Emergency Department. There are options to add hospitalist or clinic work to suit your preferences.

Emergency shifts are 24 hours, 0800 to 0800.  Single coverage but well supported by other community physicians.  Average 25 patients per day with most between 09:00 and 21:00.  After hours coverage of the 16 bed ACU and LTC for emergencies only.  Current rate is approximately $5,453 + shadow billing and any 3rd party payments, per 24 hour shift.  Accommodations are available through the Medical Affairs Coordinator.

We are in search of ED locum support for the following dates:

March 16 - 8:00AM-8:00AM (24 hour shift)

April 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 18, 19, 20

Blind River is a teaching site for the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM), and often supports undergraduate and post graduate medical learners. 

Facilities:

-16 bed acute care unit.

-32 bed long term care unit.

-Laboratory, X-ray and Ultrasound on site

-CT scanner 40 mins away in Elliot Lake.

-Tertiary care referral sites are Sault Ste Marie 90 minutes to the West, and Health Sciences North in Sudbury, 90 minutes to the East.
