Job Description
Practice rural emergency medicine in our beautiful community, Deep River. Situated along the Ottawa River and just two hours from major city amenities (with Ottawa to our east and North Bay to the west), come experience small town charm with close access to large city amenities.
Deep River and District Health is seeking a physician seeking to practice rural emergency medicine (+ 1 is not required). This opportunity, for an eligible candidate, provides additional financial support based on eligibility through the Ministry's Tier 1, Emergency Department Recruitment Program over a two year commitment.
The eligible physician would have an independent practice license with CPSO and valid OHIP billing number and not previously worked in an Emergency Department in Ontario in a full time position, however for those in a part time position looking to increase to full time hours, could be eligible. The program incentive is provided over two years ensuring that a minimum of 28 hours/weekly (or averaged out to 1456 hours a year as flexible scheduling models are certainly available to accommodate your preferences). We offer an exceptionally competitive hourly rate on all shifts, plus a seasonal hourly top-up and payment of a portion of shadow billings. A typical shift in our Emergency Department is 12 hours in length with the option to do back to back shifts and additional hours above the required 28 hours if desired. In a 24 hour block our volume ranges between 35-42 patients with the majority being CTAS 3-4.
Our rural Emergency Department is comprised of two resus beds within a negative pressure space, two observation beds, one procedure room with two beds, four treatment rooms and conference space. On average our volume is 35-42 patients in a 24 hour period with the majority being CTAS 3-4. DRDH has onsite diagnostic imaging and lab support. New POCUS system available at bedside in the ED. Epic EMR in place with paid education session arranged as required.
