Job Description

APEX Heart Centre is a thriving community outpatient cardiology clinic in the west end of Kingston offering cardiac consultation and on-site cardiac testing. We are committed to delivering high-quality care to our patients through compassion and collaboration. Our professional team flourish in an environment where patient care and longevity are our top priorities. We have a strong referral base from within the community and a close partnership with the local hospital Kingston Health Sciences Centre and Queen's Research as well as having our own research laboratory on-site. We believe in continuing education and support medical students through rotations of residency and fellowships. APEX cardiologists are a member of the Kingston Health Partners Group which connects specialized community health care practitioners. We are looking for an experienced and compassionate cardiologist to join our growing team.

Job Overview

As a cardiologist at APEX Heart Centre, you will provide care to patients with a range of heart-related conditions. Responsibilities will include diagnosing and treating patients with cardiovascular disease as well as advising patients on long-term heart health management. The ideal candidate will be passionate about patient care, up-to-date on current advancements in cardiology medicine and work effectively as a team player.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform patient interviews, including medical history, physical exam, and creating a treatment plan
  • Diagnose and treat patients with cardiovascular disease
  • Develop and execute treatment plans, such as prescribing medications, lifestyle changes and interventions
  • Reading and completing reports for cardiac testing
  • Collaborate with specialists, nurses, and healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Educate patients and/or their family members about heart health, preventative measure and treatment options
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records using our electronic medical records (EMR) and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards
  • Participate in continuing education

Qualifications

  • Certificate in Internal Medicine
  • Completion of an accredited Cardiology Fellowship
  • Enrollment with Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
  • Active license with CPSO
  • Registration with the Ministry of Health (MOH) and active billing number
  • Proven experience working in a cardiac clinic or hospital setting diagnosing and treating cardiac patients
  • Strong communication skills with experience communicating with patients and/or families
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Compassionate about your career
