Southlake Health is seeking to hire 1 Cardiologist with expertise in Echocardiography (Level III)
The Department of Cardiac Health invites applications from outstanding cardiologists with advanced training in Echocardiography to join our team. The successful candidate shall have FRCPC certification in Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in Cardiology. The applicant must have completed a minimum of 1 year of accredited Fellowship training in Echocardiography at a recognized training centre and will have achieved Level 3 certification during their fellowship. Having the NBE Examination of Special competence in Adult Echocardiography would be favourably viewed for the position. An additional fellowship with a minimum of 1 year of dedicated training in Advanced Cardiac Imaging (cardiac CT/cardiac MRI) will be an asset.
The role encompasses all aspects of echocardiography including supervising, performing, and interpreting inpatient and outpatient TTE, TEE, stress echo and structural/interventional echocardiography. The successful candidate is expected to participate on the general cardiology on call schedule and must have experience caring for critically ill patients in a cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) setting with skill sets including expertise in insertion of transvenous pacemakers, PA catheters, arterial and central venous lines, pericardiocentesis, as well skills with intra-aortic balloon pump management, and bedside echocardiography. General cardiology coverage includes cardiology ward, consultations for emergency and inpatient units as well as participation in ambulatory clinics and cardiac diagnostics testing as required. The successful candidate will be appointed to the Division of Cardiac Diagnostics with a cross-appointment to the Division of CICU, within the Department of Cardiac Health.
The successful candidate would be joining a dynamic and well-established cardiac program. Southlake is a Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care designated and funded Level 7 Regional Cardiac Program, serving 1.5 million people and 10 hospitals in the fast-growing York and North Simcoe Muskoka regions. Southlake's full - time Cardiac Medical Staff includes 5 Cardiac Surgeons and 22 Cardiologists. Applicants should possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and will be part of a progressive multidisciplinary team-based approach to cardiac patient care. Our services are comprehensive including the following: Primary PCI, TAVI, Mitraclip, PFO/ASD closures, Impella, CTO/CHIP, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Echocardiography and advanced Cardiac Imaging, Advanced Heart Failure, Critical Care Cardiology, complex EP procedures (PVI VGT ablation, and comprehensive device implantation inslugin leadless pacemakers) and minimally invasive cardiac surgery. Southlake is a high-volume centre performing over 1100 cardiac surgeries, 5500 cardiac catheterizations, 2300 angioplasties, 350 TAVI’s, 900 ablations, 750 pacemakers and 300 implantable defibrillators per year. We are the 4thh largest regional cardiac program in Ontario.
The candidate should be able to demonstrate a deep awareness and knowledge of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) principles, and how they relate to successful interactions with patients and team members.
The successful candidate must hold an Independent Practice License with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and be Royal College certified in cardiology.
