Job Description
Chatham-Kent has a need for a Rheumatologist within the community. Rheumatologists will have the ability to provide inpatient services at Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in addition to their outpatient practice. The Medical Affairs Department can also support in setting up an outpatient practice.
CKHA’s Department of Internal Medicine includes:
• 12 (level 2) Progressive Care Unit (PCU) beds with dedicated NP
• CAD clinic for exercise and nuclear stress tests. Plus the TIA clinic
• ECGs, PFTs, and holter monitors available
• Hospitalist inpatient units, including Rehab and Chronic Care units
• CKHA also has a Paediatics unit that may need consults
The Basics: Call, Payment and Schedule
Currently, the Department of Internal Medicine has a full complement, however, weeks in the program could be given intermittently or by physicians within the program. For scheduled weeks, physicians are scheduled for one week (Monday-Sunday) in the PCU at a time and there is an average of 3 calls per month. Call is evenly split among the department and can be given to physician while on service if preferred.
CKHA’s Ambulatory Care clinics will also be available on a monthly schedule to physicians to perform minor procedures.
Fee for service payment and call is eligible for HOCC payments made directly to the physician
