Job Description
St. Joseph’s Health Centre, Toronto, is seeking a locum psychiatrist for adult inpatient and outpatient
services. St. Joseph’s Health Centre provides a range of psychiatric services including rTMS, inpatient
ECT, urgent care child and adolescent clinic, urgent care, ACTT, group psychotherapy modalities, Day
Treatment Program, and inpatient services.
St. Joseph’s Health Centre, a division of Unity Health Toronto, serves the West Toronto catchment area,
which is home to an ethno racially and socioeconomically diverse population. We provide access to a
suite of multidisciplinary clinical services within a general hospital setting in collaboration with
community partners.
Locum remuneration includes OHIP billings, HOCC stipend and a monthly sessional. SJHC is an academic
community site for the University of Toronto Temerty Faculty of Medicine. Locums with University
appointments receive a stipend for supervising learners. Call shifts are lucrative as the emergency
department sees relatively high volumes of psychiatric visits. There are no overhead expenses.
Candidates must hold an active certificate of registration from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of
Ontario and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. An active University of Toronto
appointment is preferred but not mandatory for locum staff.
