Job Description
Reporting to the Corridor Medical Lead (CML), the Corridor Clinical Department Lead (CCDL) is a key leadership position for Alberta Health Services within the Northwest Corridor.
The CCDL must demonstrate a corridor‑wide perspective and lead in a competent, professional manner that contributes to the broader AHS vision. The CCDL will promote an environment that fosters quality improvement, a safe, culturally diverse environment for staff, physicians and patients and a commitment to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, Anti-Racism and Anti-Oppression.
Some Key Responsibilities are:
· Effective and Consistent Communication to support front line practitioner engagement.
· Ensuring active two-way communication of key information such as Provincial Initiatives relevant to the Corridor Clinical Department;
· Regularly meeting with the Corridor Medical Lead (CML) and the CCDL’s front line practitioners.
· Accountability for practitioner-related matters and strategic decisions requiring practitioner input or leadership that arise within a CCDL’s department.
· Advocating for the provision of high quality and safe patient care in the Rural Hospital/Community
· Serving as an arbitrator for disputes involving physicians and enabling any triggered review to be carried out in accordance with AHS MSBs/MSRs and Zonal MSRs
· Physician Workforce Planning, including reviewing and recommending of privileging for practitioners working in the North Corridor’s department;
· Liaising with the HMD’s and the ACML to assist with practitioner performance reviews, quality initiatives, health service planning and other objectives as requested by the CML.
· Ensuring compliance of front-line practitioners with AHS MSBs/MSRs, and Zonal MSRs
· Participating in two annual physician leadership development events (approved by the HMD and fully funded by AHS)

Candidates must be Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) certified, be eligible to work in Canada, and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training
